FSMLabs today announced the 6.0 release of TimeKeeper, its groundbreaking time synchronization software for high-frequency trading and other applications requiring extreme time precision. The newest iteration of TimeKeeper addresses expansion of high-precision time synchronization across networks, including cloud and other beyond-the-wall environments. In addition, it now offers a web-based management console, as well as oversight of time performance across network components.
TimeKeeper 6.0 furthers the time network resiliency and expandability introduced last year in version 5.0. The new TimeKeeper Management Console dramatically simplifies the identification and prioritization of primary and failover time sources. In addition, real-time capture of synchronization data across the network enables performance monitoring, as well as post-facto auditing of problems caused by performance issues in network components, including reference clocks, boundary clocks, switches and clients.
“Our growing list of customers in the high-frequency trading business testifies to the importance of precision time synchronization for accuracy, responsiveness and time arbitrage. Now our users are seeking the same control, measurement and resiliency of time-networking across broader system landscapes, including colocation environments, trading venues and data vendors,” said Victor Yodaiken, CEO of FSMLabs. “TimeKeeper 6.0 is designed to eliminate the challenges presented by different time messaging formats, types of time sources, and network characteristics, while providing an elegantly simple and portable console for oversight.”
Advances in TimeKeeper 6.0 include the following:
· TimeKeeper Management Console – a user-friendly, easy-to-use administrative framework, accessible through web browsers. In addition to simplifying configuration of multiple time sources for multi-network synchronization and failover resiliency, it also can display network-wide status logs or graphic visualization of time-precision performance.
· Time Network Oversight -- real-time capture of synchronization performance and component status information, with optional alerts triggered by comparative time fluctuations outside of user-configured range.
· Time Messaging Interoperability – PTP unicast support plus on-the-fly conversion to and from NTP or other messaging formats, for multi-hop networks.
· Time Network Hardware Adaptability -- improved integration with GPS and IRIG time-enabled network bus cards.
TimeKeeper typically distributes and synchronizes time in the low-digit or sub-microsecond range of precision, with performance continuing to improve with advances in networking components. TimeKeeper is designed to optimize the performance of existing infrastructure and to take advantage of new equipment as it comes on line.
Currently TimeKeeper has been adopted or is in extended testing in numerous hedge funds, major brokerages, infrastructure firms, and data vendors. Key customers have been depending on TimeKeeper in production systems for more than three years.
